Editorial: Venezuela- By Hans Kohlmorgen
The crisis in Venezuela is making the entire earth shudder. This crisis is heavily affecting the people of Venezuela. We are watching the descent of a proto-communist government into a full out dictatorship. We all have our own ideas about government, but this should prove to you that communist governments DO NOT WORK! When the oil price fell in 2014, the plentiful social programs, that were created during Hugo Chavez’s presidency, fell. When those programs fell, so did the people of Venezuela. In the 3 year span the average Venezuelan lost 10 lbs. due to malnutrition. That is the average person, half of the population has lost more weight than that. When most of the population lose that much weight in a developed nation that cannot be anybody but the downfall of the government. The fact that the president tries to get power in the terrible times shows the flaws with the government of Venezuela and truly exposes Communism as a system that does not work. The nation of Venezuela is suffering for their mistakes.
*Editor's note: although this week's website looks barren, we are teaching and training a lot more students to help in the coming weeks. Also, if you enjoyed this, be sure to meet us on Thursdays in the lecture hall (FOCUS time)
